The Pipers took a 2-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes of play, as Kyle
Mattson (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) scored the first goal at 4:14. Brian
Arrigoni (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) and Jake Heck (Fy., Edina, Minn.) were
credited with the assists.
Hamline second goal came at just over four minutes later, at 8:46,
from Jordan Van Gilder (Jr., Lino Lakes, Minn.). The assists went to
Danny Vranek (Sr., New Port Richie, Fla.) and Ryan Kupperman (Sr.,
Canterbury, N.H.).
Kupperman added a goal to his stat sheet at 4:48 in the second,
scoring on a Piper power play. Van Gilder and Jay Fifield (Sr., Eden
Prairie, Minn.) were credited with the assists.
The Johnnies then put together a three-goal third period to tie up
the game, scoring first at 7:57. They then added a pair of goals within
45 seconds at 16:30 and 17:15.
That sent the game into overtime, but neither team could break the
deadlock, and they split the available conference standings points on
the night.
Hamline out-shot Saint John's 40-39 in the game.
The Pipers are now 12-4-5, 7-1-4 MIAC and the Johnnies are 5-14-2,
4-6-2 MIAC. Hamline will host Gustavus Adolphus in their final home
regular season game of the year on Friday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m.
