Pipers complete Duluth trip with tie against St. Scholastica

Following a scoreless opening period of play. Ryan Kupperman (Sr., Canterbury, N.H.) gave the Pipers a 1-0 lead just 22 seconds into the second period. Brian Arrigoni (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) was credited with the assist.

The Saints bounced back to score two goals of their own before the 10-minute mark, both even strength. The goals came at 7:47 and 9:32.

Arrigoni then evened the score before the second intermission as he put the puck in the net at 15:46 on a power play. Jordan Van Gilder (Jr., Lino Lakes, Minn.) and Chris Berenguer (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) had the assists on the score.

Shortly after the start of the third period, St. Scholastica took a one-goal lead again as an unassisted even-strength goal at 1:22 put them up 3-2. 

With 10:05 to play in the game, Kirk Olimb (So., Warroad, Minn.) tied the game for the Pipers. Brett Burgau (Sr., New Ulm, Minn.) was credited with the assist. 

The score would remain knotted at three through the remainder of regulation and through overtime.

The Pipers out-shot the Saints 29-25 in the game.

The Pipers are now 8-3-2 overall while the Saints are 7-7-1 overall after the non-conference contest. Hamline returns to MIAC play on Friday, January 14, at Bethel. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
