Grinnell ran to the team title with 97 points while Luther was second
with 133 points. Hamline had 140 points in their third place
Monson earned an automatic qualifier spot to the NCAA national meet
as an individual, but the Pipers will have to wait to find out if the
enter team will be competing next weekend.
The top two teams earn an automatic bid to the NCAA national meet, so
the Pipers will need an at-large bit to run as a team. The NCAA will
announce the entire field for the meet on Sunday, November 14.
The top 35 runners at the meet earned all-conference honors.
Monson ran to a second place finish in 25:05.0. Three more Pipers
finished in all-region positions as Colin Rogers (So., River Falls,
Wis.) was 16th in 26:00.1, Jack Deichert (Jr., Golden Valley, Minn.) was
26th in in 26:12.4, and Ian Campbell (Sr., Blooming Prairie, Minn.) was
32nd in 26:17.8
Nate Dobbins (So., Rochester, Minn.) was the next Piper to cross the line, finishing 64th in 26:46.9.
Andy Johnson (Sr., Andover, Minn.) was 83rd in 27:09.0 and Ellis Richardson (Jr., Shoreview, Minn.) was 131st in 28:19.1.
The NCAA Division III national championship meet will also be held in Waverly. The race is Saturday, November 20, at 11:00 a.m.
