Hipp was named the MVP for the Thrivant Financial for Lutherans
tournament at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, California, last week.
He led Hamline to a 69-68 upset of #8 Wheaton and then to a 66-58 win
over Cal Lutheran in the championship game. On Saturday he tallied a
double-double in the Pipers' MIAC win over Carleton, 77-65.
In the game against #8 Wheaton, Hipp had a driving layup with 1.1
seconds on the clock for the winning basket. He totaled a game-high 19
points and added nine rebounds and three blocked shots in that game.
During the title game he posted 10 points, six rebounds, and two blocks.
Upon the Pipers' return to conference play on Saturday, Hipp had 16
points and 12 boards with his second double-double of the week.
The Pipers are now 6-4, 2-3 MIAC and play at Bethel tonight at 7:30
p.m. Hamline returns to Hutton Arena this Wednesday, January 5, to host
Saint Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
