Pipers take top three in all-around as Blue Devils edge out meet win

UW-Stout won the meet with 177.075 points, edging out the Pipers' 173.975 points. UW-Oshkosh finished third with 169.825 points.

Sophomore Lissette LaFex (Diamond Bar, Calif.) won the all-around with a total of 34.900 (8.600-vault, 9.425-bars, 7.725-beam, 9.150-floor). Courtney Benson (Fy., Winona, Minn.) and Molly Weber (Sr., Taos, N.M.) tied for second in the all-around, completing the Piper sweep.

Benson (9.250-vault, 7.825-bars, 8.325-beam, 9.050-floor) and Weber (8.850-vault, 7.600-bars, 9.125-beam, 8.875-floor) totaled 34.450 apiece.

UW-Stout's Naomi DeLara (Sr., Kahului, Hawaii) was the champion on the vault with a score of 9.550 while Benson placed second.

Hamline's Erika Degnan (Fy., Winona, Minn.) and Kambria Blakely (Fy., Moultre, Ga.) tied for fourth on the vault with scores of 9.050.

LaFex won the uneven parallel bars title while Stout gymnasts placed second through sixth on the apparatus.

DeLara also won on balance beam with a score of 9.650 and floor exercise with a score of 9.550. Weber was second on the balance beam while Melissa Thomas (Sr., Long Beach, Calif.) was second on floor with a score of 9.325.

Hamline next competes on Saturday, January 15, at UW-Whitewater. That meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
