Vikings legend Bud Grant to headline End Zone Club banquet

The banquet will take place on Thursday, February 11, in the Kay Fredericks Room in Klas Center on the campus of Hamline University. The social hour begins at 6:00 p.m., dinner at 7:00 p.m., and the program will start at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are still available, although space is limited. For ticket information, click here.

Grant is third on the all-time wins list for professional coaches with 290 combined victories in the NFL and CFL. He is the all-time winningest coach in Minnesota Vikings history (161 wins), having coached the team from 1967-83 and 1985.

He was the first coach to lead a team to four Super Bowls (IV, VIII, IX, XI) and won 11 divisional titles, one NFL championship, and four conference championships at the helm of Minnesota.

Prior to taking over as the second head coach of the Vikings, Grant coached the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL for ten years.

Grant was also a two-sport professional athlete following a collegiate football, basketball, and baseball career at the University of Minnesota. He played with Hamline basketball legend Vern Mikkelsen on the Minneapolis Lakers' 1950 NBA championship team. Following his NBA career he played two seasons in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mike Max '87 was a basketball and baseball player at Hamline University and went on to become a familiar face and voice on Twin Cities televisions and radios.

He is a sports reporter and anchor for WCCO-TV and hosts WCCO Sports Tonight with Mike Max on WCCO Radio.
