The Knights put the first touchdown on the board in the opening quarter at 8:06 as Jon Lien (Jr., Lindstrom, Minn.) broke free for a 71-yard run. Eric Murphy's (Jr., Stillwater, Okla.) kick was good for the 7-0 lead.

The next scoring change came as Carleton carried their possession over into the second quarter. At 13:43, Eric Murphy hit a 28-yard field goal to put the Knights up 10-0.

Hamline scored on their next possession, putting together a 16-play, 69-yard drive that ended in a one-yard rush by Zach Cornish (Fy., Barstow, Calif.) for the touchdown. Broback's kick was good to put the Pipers within three, 10-7.

Hamline's defense then held the Knights to a three-and-out a one-yard rush and a pair of incomplete passes.

However, Carleton would get the ball back one more time before the half expired, and Vaughn Schmid (Jr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) connected with Killian Murphy (Sr., Eau Claire, Wis.) on an eight-yard TD pass. With Eric Murphy's kick, the Knights led 17-7 at the break.

Lien started off the second half for the Knights in a similar fashion as the first - with a rushing touchdown. This time he scored from a yard out at 12:31, putting Carleton up 24-7 with Eric Murphy's kick.

Less than five minutes later, Willman picked off Vaughn at the Hamline 16-yard line. He dashed all the way back along the near sideline for the 84-yard return for the touchdown at 7:54. Broback's kick was good, making it a 10-point game at 24-14.

In the fourth quarter, however, the Knights put three touchdowns on the board, including a four-yard scoring run at 11:03 from Schmid. He also had a 48-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Dale (So., Fox Island, Wash.) at 10:16.

Carleton's third touchdown of the quarter came in the final minute. Tim Luso (Sr., Welcome, Minn.) intercepted Adam Meyer (Jr., Cold Spring, Minn.) and returned it 74-yards for the touchdown with 53 seconds left on the clock.

Just before the nine-minute mark, Connor Sathre (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) ran the ball in from six yards out for the Pipers' final touchdown.
