The Royals used five different players to score touchdowns on the
ground as they ran for 365 yards of their 584 total yards of offense.
Logan Flannery (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) led the team in rushing with 199
yards, a touchdown, and a long run of 43 yards.
The Royals put a pair of touchdowns on the board in each of the first
three quarters, starting with two rushing scores in the first quarter.
Quarterback Josh Aakre (Jr., Dawson, Minn.) carried the ball in from
three-yards out at 10:53 while Jesse Phenow (Fy., Richfield, Minn.) had a
nine-yard run. After each of those touchdowns, Aakre ran the ball in
for the two-point conversion and the 16-0 Bethel lead.
41 seconds into the second quarter, Aakre connected with Mitch
Hallstrom (Fy., Eden Prairie, Minn.0 on a 53-yard touchdown strike. On
the two-point conversion, Hans Duininck (Jr., Tulsa, Okla.) caught the
pass from Aakre for the 24-0 lead.
Bethel’s last score of the half came from a three-yard run by Kevin
Lindh (So., Houston, Minn.). Nick Love’s (So., Elmhurst, Ill.) kick was
good for the 31-0 halftime advantage.
Aakre threw for 103 yards on 8-for-13 passing in the first half.
the third quarter, Flannery ran the ball in from three yards out at
4:34 before Hallstrom caught his second TD pass of the day from Aakre.
The 19-yard reception came with 64 seconds remaining in the quarter.
Love’s kicks were good after both scores for a 45-0 Bethel lead.
With just under two and a half minutes to play in the game, Derek
Waldbilling (So., Farmington, Minn.) ran the ball in from 10 yards out.
The touchdown, plus Love’s kick, gave Bethel the 52-0 win.
The Pipers had a pair of fumble recoveries in the game by Justin Bain
(Sr., Grand Meadow, Minn.) and Mike Doherty (Jr,. Farmington, Minn.).
Hamline falls to 1-8, 0-7 MIAC while Bethel is now 8-1, 6-1 MIAC. The
Pipers will conclude the season next weekend at Saint John’s in a 1:00
p.m. game on Saturday, November 13.
