Broback had a textbook game for the Pipers on Saturday as he handled
both the punting and kicking responsibilities against the Auggies.
He was perfect in PATs (5-for-5) and in his lone field goal attempt
(31 yards) while averaging 50.5 yards per kickoff in six kickoffs.
Included in those kickoffs was an on-side kick in the second quarter
that Broback himself recovered after it hit an Augsburg player. The
on-side kick recovery got the Pipers the ball back on the Hamline
41-yard line and led to a scoring drive that put Hamline up 21-3 in the
second quarter.
Broback had three punts in the game - all of which pinned the Auggies
inside the 20 as he averaged 41.3 yards per punt with a long of 50
yards. Two of his three punts were downed (at the 6-, and 4-yard lines)
while a third was caught at the 19-yard line without an opportunity for
additional return yardage.
He had no touchbacks, no kicks out-of-bounds, and didn't give up a fair catch.
The Pipers (0-2, 0-1 MIAC) will host Carleton College on Saturday, September 25, at 1:00 p.m.
