The host Golden Gophers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the opening pair of innings, scoring a run on a hit in the first and six runs on three hits in the second.

The Pipers put a pair of runs on the board in the third inning. Tony Rogers (Jr., St. Michael, Minn.) and Alex Buresh (Sr., Vadnais Heights, Minn.) drew a pair of walks to start the inning. Rogers then scored as J.D. Modrynski (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) singled and all of the runners advanced an extra base on an error by the Gopher right fielder.

Dan Ellefson (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.) then earned an RBI on a ground-out as Buresh scored.

Dahl's (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.) homer was the third Piper run of the game as he hit a lead-off shot over the left field wall in the fourth inning.

Minnesota then scored three more runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth for the seven-run margin of victory.

Dahl was 1-for-3 at the plate while Modrynski went 2-for-4. Kent Huls (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) threw one inning while taking the loss for Hamline on the mound.

The Pipers fall to 6-15 overall while the Gophers are now 12-17. Hamline will play their first game of the year at Midway Stadium tomorrow, Wednesday, April 7, as they host MIAC opponent Macalester at 2:30 p.m.
