The Pipers and the Terriers exchanged runs in the third period of the
game, each team scoring their run on a pair of hits. Derek Ritter (Fy.,
Owatonna, Minn.) had the RBI single for Hamline in the third.
Hamline took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Dan
Ellefson (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.) that scored Tres Humerickhouse (Jr.,
Farmington, Minn.). Humerickhouse had hit a lead-off single to get on
base.
Each team then added another run on one hit apiece in the sixth,
Hamline's run and hit coming on an RBI-triple by Andy Powell (Jr.,
Minneapolis, Minn.).
The Terriers tied the game in the top of the eighth, but Rogers'
heroics in the bottom of the frame gave the Pipers the win. Ellefson
drew a lead-off walk and Powell was hit by a pitch before Rogers homered
down the left field line for the trio of RBI.
Cass Kreitlow (Jr., Glenwood, Minn.) threw three innings in relief,
giving up just two hits in earning the win on the mound for the Pipers.
Ellefson was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored while Rogers was 1-for-3 with the homerun and three RBI.
Hamline is now 5-9 overall while Thomas drops to 3-2 overall. The Pipers will take on Eastern Connecticut tomorrow in Phoenix.
