Kaczrowski, who was a standout on the Pipers from 2006-09, began the
season with the Visalia Rawhide of the California League. He was hitting
.267 and had 36 RBI with 17 doubles and three home runs.
"I was very shocked and excited about the promotion but still realize
that I have a long way to go to reach my goal," said Kaczrowski. "I'm
not satisfied playing AA. Hopefully I can learn a lot from some of these
guys in the next few weeks."
The Mobile Baybears (Alabama) are a member of the Southern League.
Kaczrowski, who is being used primarily as an outfielder in the
Diamondbacks' system, joined his new team on Saturday, August 7.
A graduate of St. Anthony Village High School, Kaczrowski was the
2009 Baseball America preseason Division III player of the year. He went
on to lead the Pipers to their second straight MIAC playoff appearance
and third in four years during his senior season.
Overall in 2009 he led the team with a .393 batting average and had
26 RBI while hitting ten doubles and a team-high four home runs. He
struck out just five times in 150 at bats and drew a team-high 21 walks.
Kaczrowski was drafted by the Arizona Diamonbacks in the 26th round of the 2009 MLB draft.
