Game 1: Box score
HU     5   7   0
GAC   1   8   3

In the opener, the Pipers jumped on the Gustie pitching early, putting two runs on the board in the first inning on a 2-RBI double from J.D. Modrynski (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.).

The double drove in Tony Rogers (Jr., St. Michael, Minn.), who had singled to get on base, and Alex Buresh (Sr., Vadnais Heights, Minn.), who reached on an error.

The Gusties scored their lone run of the opener in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly, although they did put together eight hits in the game.

Hamline scored three more runs in the fifth as Andy Powell (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.) hit a one-out double to start the charge. Cory Miller (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) then reach on a catcher's interference. That set up a three-run play on Rogers' at-bat. He doubled to drive in Powell and Miller, then advanced to third on the throw. The throw was bobbled by the catcher, and the error allowed Rogers to finish the trip around the bases and score.

Rogers was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored while Modrynski was 1-for-3 with the two RBI.

Matt Eickman (Fy., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) threw a complete game to pick up the win and move to 3-1 on the year.

The Pipers opened game two much the same as they did the opener, scoring to start the game. Powell led off with a single and Miller followed suit. Powell advanced to third on a fielder's choice that capture Miller at second, and then scored on a passed ball for the 1-0 lead.

Gustavus then put runs on the board in their next three at-bats to take a commanding lead. They scored two in the first on two hits and a Piper error, added one more run in the second on a single hit, and then three in the third on four hits.

The Pipers put one more run on the board in the fourth as Buresh led off with a singled and was brought home by a Dan Ellefson (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.) single.

Gustavus scored their final two runs in the sixth innings on three hits.

Powell was 2-for-3 with a run scored in the second game, finished the day by going 4-for-7 at the plate. Brett Bugielski (So., River Falls, Wis.) took the loss on the mound, throwing two and one-thirds innings.
