First-Generation Student Experience by Jeff Davis, former English Professor and Director of

TRIO and McNair programs at Sonoma State University, offers faculty to focus on who our

students really are—moving the discussion from “access” in Higher Education to “success”

in Higher Education for all students. It offers faculty opportunities to think of students in

classroom situations from different personal and social locations as well as intersections of

those locations.
