Description:
This workshop takes up the sometimes tricky business of writing a clear writing
assignment. We’ll start with the question of what makes a writing assignment useful
(and for whom) and then collectively develop strategies for drafting a writing assignment
that helps students accomplish the goals of the assignment in the form instructors
expect. We expect this to be a participatory workshop experience, so everyone is
invited to bring a writing assignment or drafty idea for an assignment (not required,
though), and everyone in the room should plan to contribute to our collective expertise
(whether we feel so expert or no)! Yes, that’s an exciting exclamation point at the end
