• The Hamline Plan is Changing!

    The undergraduate faculty have been hard at work revising the Hamline Plan general education curriculum. What is changing, and how do these changes impact you?

    Writing Intensive

    • Now designated with the letter W instead of T

    • All prior writing-intensive courses on your Piperline transcript have been changed

    • Look for W's in the class schedule when planning your registration

    • Requirement has not changed, all students must take at least one writing intensive course each academic year

    LEAP (Liberal education as practice)

    • Formerly LEAD (Leadership, Education, and Development)

    • Now designated with the letter P

    • All prior LEAD courses on your Piperline transcript have been changed

    • Look for P's in the class schedule when planning your registration

    • Requirement has not changed, all students must complete one LEAP experience

    Formal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning

    • Reasoning has been divided into two categories

    • Formal Reasoning will be designated with the letter R

    • Quantitative Reasoning will be designated with the letter M

    • Look for R's and M's when planning your registration

    • Students admitted prior to Fall 2014 need to complete one reasoning course in either category

    • Students admitted Fall 2014 or later need to complete one course in each category or a single course designated with both R and M
