    Our Impact

    • Our Impact

      • Prepared 275 college students of color for the field of teaching in Minnesota. Ninety-four percent of college students report that CEUT training was a valuable learning experience; 90 percent of their mentor teachers report that “the college students made a positive contribution during the classroom component of CEUT’s pre-service training.”
      • Trained more than 800 new and non-traditional teachers in effective, real-life strategies for the urban classroom through the graduate-level certificate program, Certificate in Urban Teaching.
      • Trained from 25,000 teachers, administrators, students, and community members since 1996.
      • Provided professional development in more than 40 schools and districts around the state, helping schools move away from probationary status.
      • Developed and implemented an effective tutoring program that pairs urban youth with college students of color—one of only two after-school programs in Minnesota that improves urban student achievement in reading and math.
      • Developed and implemented a successful tutoring program that pairs urban youth with college students of color—an after-school program that improves student achievement in mathematics, supports urban at-risk high school students for postsecondary study, and improves high school graduation rates. The program also potentially recruits college students of color to the teaching profession, to ameliorate an anticipated teacher shortage.
      • Piloted a customized job-embedded master’s degree program, a professional development and community outreach initiative, with an emphasis on urban teaching for 20 new teachers working in Saint Paul Public Schools.
      • Prepared teachers to practice social justice, culturally relevant pedagogy, innovation, relational trust, leadership, and research-based knowledge and skills.
