    Swati Avasthi

    Swati Avasthi is the author of the novel, Split (Random House/Knopf, 2010), winner of a Cybils Young Adult Fiction Award, a Parents’ Choice 2010 Silver Award, a New Voices 2010 pick by the Association of Booksellers for Children, and an ALA Best Fiction for Young Adults pick. Her second novel, Chasing Shadows, also by Random House/Knopf, was published in September of 2013, received starred reviews from Kirkus, Publisher's Weekly, and School Library Journal and is a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award. Her short story, “Swallow,” published in Water~Stone Review, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and included in the 2009 Best American New Voices collection.

    An MFA graduate from the University of Minnesota, Swati is the recipient of The Loft Mentor Award and a Marcella DeBourg Foundation Fellowship. She teaches part-time in the BFA and MFA programs at Hamline University, at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, and at The Loft Literary Center.

      Two Faculty Book Releases
      Congratulations to CWP faculty Swati Avashti (Chasing Shadows) and Anne Ursu (The Real Boy), both celebrating book releases today.
