    Homecoming: October 2 - October 8, 2016

    Homecoming Week isn't just for alumni, it is the time of the year when current students go the extra mile to show their school spirit and celebrate the Hamline community. Are you ready to join the celebration? Below is a schedule of many of the activities planned to help celebrate Homecoming.

    PIcture your Piper Pride: A homecoming fine arts competition 

    Submissions due on Thursday, September 29 | Submission form closes at 11:59pm | Link to submission form 
    Students are invited to submit tradition and digital media art to this inaugural juried fine arts competition. A panel of judges comprised of Hamline Fine Arts faculty and others will award three students with cash prizes. Event attendees will also have the opportunity to award a fourth cash prize for the student choice award. Winners will be featured on the Hamline University website and at the Big Bash Alumni Relations event on Saturday. 

    HOMECOMING Royalty

    Nominations accepted September 26 through September 29 | Submission form closes at 11:59pm | Link to submission form 
    We're bringing back Homecoming Royalty! Up to ten students will be selection from the pool of nominations to be part of the Homecoming Court. Hamline community members will have the opportunity to vote for who they believe should be celebrated at Hamline Homecoming Royalty by stopping by the Homecoming table during lunch throughout the week. Up to five students will be crowned as Royalty during the Lip Sync Competition on Friday, October 7. 

    HOMECOMING KickOff: Campus Decorating and Ice Cream Party

    Sunday, October 2 | 2:00pm - 4:00pm | Meet on the Anderson Patio
    Join the Homecoming Planners in decorating the campus in celebration of Homecoming Week. We will be dividing into groups to chalk the sidewalks, hang banners, decorate doors, and more. Participants are invited to wrap up with an ice cream party.

    HOMECOMING T-Shirt Giveaway 

    Monday, October 3 | 5:30pm | Anderson Forum
    FREE Homecoming t-shirts will be given away at this event (limited quantities available; first come, first serve). More details to come! 


    Tuesday, October 4 | 6:00pm - 8:00pm | Anderson 304 
    Students who attend this event will have the opportunity to adorn sweaters and t-shirts with their own Piper-Pride-themed decorations! Supplies will be provided. Get your craft on!


    Wednesday, October 5 | 9:00pm - 10:00pm | TBD (Check back for more details!) 
    Students will compete to find the most glow sticks hidden throughout campus in this three-legged race. Prizes will be awarded to top-ranking teams! 

    Hamline Pride fine arts competition & gallery

    Thursday, October 6 | 5:00pm - 7:00pm | Anderson 112
    Students are encouraged to submit photography, traditional media, and digital media art to a new juried fine arts competition in celebration of Hamline and our community. Submissions will be on dislpay during this gallery event featuring free snacks. A jury of faculty and staff will select award recipients, and student attendees will have the opportunity to vote on a student-favorite.

    The Lip Sync Competition is an annual Homecoming event. It gives students the opportunity to perform their favorite songs on stage, without having to worry about singing! Simply pick a song, register to participate and prepare your stage show! Contestants are judged on ability to lip sync, originality, appearance and crowd reaction.     Saturday, October 8 | 2:00pm - 5:00pm | Alumni Way
    Enjoy free caricature artists, henna artists, yard games and much more with our Hamline community -- friends & family, Alumni, neighbors, faculty, and staff. Fall Fest also features DISC GOLF and ARCHERY TAG -- a game of tag using bows and arrows (with foam ends). Come check out the various activities, and bring tennis shoes to run around in as you play disc golf and tag with your friends.   

    Big Bash

    Saturday, October 8 | 5:00pm - 8:00pm | Anderson Center
    Students are invited to join the Associations of Hamline Alumni  for dinner and fun at the Big Bash! Meal tickets will be given to students with meal plans, and students who have Declining Balance (DB) funds through Dining Services will have the ability to purchase meal tickets using their DB.  All other students are welcome to purchase meal tickets to eat food from the various stations placed throughout the Bishop's Bistro on the second floor of Anderson for the duration of the event. The Big Bash also features live music and a cash bar of local beer and wine for guests who are 21+. 


    Saturday, October 8 | Following the football game | Kay Frederick Ballroom
    Hamline University Programming Board is hosting a glow-themed Homecoming Dance in Klas Center following the game. Come straight from the game, sporting your Piper gear, grab a glow-in-the-dark mocktail, and dance the night away to music provided by KDWB. No tickets required, but space is limited.

  • Hamline University Department of Theatre and Dance will open Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead on Friday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. The show runs on April 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Anne Simley Theatre.

    The Dean of Students Office and the Military Student Resource Center will host the Graduating Military Students Recognition Celebration on Wednesday, May 3 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Peterson Lounge in West Hall. President Miller will speak and present each military graduate with a graduation stole to commemorate their military service and their Hamline journey.

    Save the date! The Hamline community is warmly invited to the annual university-wide spring celebration at CHS Field in downtown Saint Paul on Saturday, May 6 at 1 p.m. Bring your friends and family, and join your Hamline community in cheering on our Piper baseball student-scholars as they take on Carleton on the best field in the MIAC! Admission is free.
