Alan L. Sickbert
Hamline University Dean of Students
Alan Sickbert joined Hamline University as the Associate Dean of Students in June of 2004 and was promoted to the Dean of Students role in 2005. In his current role he has served as the Senior Student Affairs Officer overseeing the departments of the Campus Life Center, Career Development Center, Center for Student Success and Transition, Counseling and Health Services, Wesley Center for Spirituality, Service and Social Justice, and Judicial Affairs. In addition, Alan oversees the auxiliary services of Dining Services and the Hamline University Bookstore.
Alan has served in various levels of Student Affairs positions at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Indiana State University, and the University of St. Thomas. Also, prior to joining the staff at Hamline University, he served as the Headmaster for Covenant Academy, a school for youth at risk. Alan received a B.S. in Education from Indiana University, a Masters of Education in Student Personnel Administration from the University of Vermont, and a Doctor of Education degree in Education Leadership from the University of St. Thomas.
Alan and his wife Jan live in Woodbury. Their daughter Samantha graduated in May of 2011 from St. Olaf College.

Responsible for the development, leadership and management of the residential component of The Covenant Academy of Minnesota, an innovative unique solution to education students who are in danger of not completing their high school education, sue to environmental and family conflict situations. The program is a partnership of a private nonprofit residential component and a public charter school unified through the teaching of social skills both in the classroom and in the residential setting.

Led and directed the departments of Residential Life, The Center for Student Leadership and Activities, and the Tutor/Mentor Program. Managed 15 professional staff, 50 student staff, and a budget of $1,000,000. Reported to Vice President of Student Affairs.

Provided overall direction and coordination for the offices of Multicultural Student Services, International Student Services, Tutor/Mentor Program, Center for Student Leadership and Activities, Specialized Services, Center for Commuter Services, orientation, discipline and the Dean of Student Life.
