Sequential Degrees

Earn another graduate degree while saving time and money.

If you’ve completed a master's degree with the Hamline School of Business or a J.D. from Hamline School of Law within the past five years, you can earn another degree, saving yourself time and money. Get your Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), or Master of Nonprofit Management (MNM).

Save Money with a Tuition Discount

As a recipient of a master’s degree or J.D. from Hamline, you are eligible to receive a 10% alumni discount for any one of the sequential graduate degree programs in which you enroll at Hamline.

Note: Hamline University and the School of Business offer several scholarship and discount opportunities to help with the cost of tuition. Please note that scholarships and discounts cannot be combined.

Save Time with Fewer Credit Requirements

Your previous degree allows you to transfer in credits toward your new degree, which saves you both time and money.

MPA/MNM Alumni

Transfer in 20 credits to complete just 28 of 48 credits for the MNM or MPA.
Transfer in 16 credits to complete just 32 of 48 credits for the MBA.

MBA Alumni

Transfer in 20 credits to complete just 28 of 48 credits for the MNM or MPA.

Hamline j.d. alumni

Transfer in credits toward any School of Business master's program. 

Get Started and Apply

If you have completed a JD, MBA, MPA, or MNM degree at Hamline within the past five years (or have relevant experience to extend consideration past five years), please submit an application and the following materials:

  • A two-page personal statement stating how an additional degree fits your career goals.
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from a Hamline faculty member.
  • A current résumé.

After a review of your materials, the admission committee may require additional items; students will be notified if more materials are needed.
